Farm Business Planning
Women for the Land Hands-On Learning Circle Registration
WHEN: Tuesday, July 22, 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (lunch at noon)
WHERE: Fire Creek Farms, 3450 Plank Rd, Livonia, NY 14487
WHO: Women in Ag!
DESCRIPTION: Whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned enterprise in need of a fresh perspective, join us for a discussion about building a resilient farm business model. Our discussion will be led by the Center for Agricultural Development & Entrepreneurship (CADE) Senior Program Manager James Cagle, covering topics in operations, financial planning, and marketing. We will meet at Fire Creek Farms, a thriving diversified operation in Livingston County. They grow cash crops, hay, vegetables, and raise beef, hogs, poultry — all sold through an onsite farm store and CSA program, which we will tour after our discussion. Their practical experience with mixed production + direct marketing + on-farm retail makes them an ideal case for exploring various farm business models.
If you are a farm business owner, co-owner, or land manager interested in exploring and strengthening farm business models: financial planning, diversification, marketing, and profitability, this Learning Circle is for you.
Lunch is provided, so please register in advance! This event will allow participants to gain insights from a successful local farmer, take home practical tools for building or refining your own business model and connect to AFT’s network of women farmers and mentors.
The learning circle will be led by James Cagle, senior program manager at CADE and farmer, Kyli Stevens; facilitated by American Farmland Trust NY's Women for the Land Program, Stephanie Castle.
