Fill out the form below for FREE access to American Farmland Trust’s Retrospective Soil Health Economic Calculator (R-SHEC) Tools for row crops and almonds and the associated training resources, known as the Soil Health Economic and Environmental Tool Kit.
UPDATES: AFT released the row crop version of the Tool Kit to the public in the Summer of 2020 after presenting at the 2020 Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) annual conference. As of July 13, 2021, the R-SHEC Tool and Questionnaire have been updated with 2020 crop prices and input costs and we are releasing an almond version for the first time. Plus, we took the opportunity to improve all Tool Kit materials, where needed, for content, formatting, or name changes.
With this Tool Kit, you will be able to find a “soil health successful” row crop farmer or almond grower in your area to interview and then to create your own retrospective soil health case studies estimating the economic, water quality, and climate associated with the producer’s use of soil health practices. AFT’s hope is that one day, our fellow conservationists in every farming county in the country will publish a case study featuring at least one “soil health successful” producer, thereby showing other producers in the area that “it too can be done here.” Filling out the form will also allow us to contact you with updates to the resources.
HIGHLIGHTS: Also included in the Tool Kit are slide decks and video links from two training events (a July 2020 SWCS Workshop on the Row Crop Tool Kit and a February 2021 Almond Tool Kit Webinar). The videos are found at the bottom of AFT’s Soil Health Case Study Methods webpage.

Here is a link to the OneDrive folder where you can download any of the Soil Health Tool Kit materials AFT is providing to assist others in interviewing farmers to quantify economic, water quality, and climate outcomes associated with their already adopted soil health practices. You will also receive an email with the link to the OneDrive folder with “Access Granted” subject line. Download all the Tool Kit materials to your computer so you do not have to re-submit the “Gain Access” form.
If you have questions about these resources, please contact AFT's Soil Health Case Study Project Leader and Water Initiative Director, Dr. Michelle Perez at email@example.com. AFT would appreciate an appropriate attribution should you use any of these methods. And let us know if you use the methods or develop a case study! Thank you!
