On Sunday afternoon, the U.S. Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a sweeping health and climate bill. The legislation includes a once-in-a-generation investment in agricultural conservation and would provide farmers and ranchers the tools they need to combat climate change and protect their farmland.
But the bill is not a law just yet. The House of Representatives is returning to Washington this week to vote on this legislation and they need to hear from you NOW to ensure this funding remains in the final legislation and that the bill is sent to the President’s desk.
Please write to your Representatives TODAY to ask them to support the more than $20 billion in agricultural conservation funding that will provide more producers with the tools necessary to build resilience to extreme weather, while improving soil health, water quality, and profitability. It would also enable additional acres of farmland to be protected at a time when AFT estimates that we are losing 2,000 acres a day.
Thank you for taking a moment to ask your Representatives to seize this critical opportunity!
